Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin easily sets new standards in almost every area of its design. The graphics have seen a slight upgrade from Dawn of Sorrow, with more animation, and some really nice colorful sprites. Plus, it has some of the best examples of parallax scrolling on the Nintendo DS. The music and sound effects all are noteworthy, and the game design, of course rivals almost any other offering. Add in all the extras, and what you have is a game that is quite possibly one of the best handheld games this year, and any other. Well, until its successor is eventually released.
