Barbie as The Island Princess is an average package overall. It succeeds in offering up twelve simple, focused mini-games that play as they should and are free of any control problems, which are otherwise common in mini-game collections like this. And it also does a good job of presenting Barbie’s world, by utilizing several video clips from her latest direct-to-DVD movie. But, in the end, the experience is over far too quickly. It would take most players only about an hour to complete the entire game and see all there is to see, and the unlockable extras aren’t implemented well enough to offer any real extension to the lasting value of the title. If you’ve got a young Barbie fan in your home and want to treat her to a brief new diversion for her DS, Barbie as The Island Princess could serve that purpose. But just be aware that it won’t last her very long.

Overall, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is a great RPG and real-time strategy game that is successful in being both a new take on the franchise and a sequel to an utter masterpiece. This game screams Final Fantasy in every aspect of its design. Its great dialog, addictive gameplay, lengthy quest, and sleek presentation make this the role-playing game to have on the Nintendo DS. Whether you’ve played the original game or not, this is a game to own for both RPG/RTS veterans and newcomers alike

.. the game was so dull, because the visuals were incredibly fresh and inspired, and I wanted to suggest that everyone experience them. But, as decently put together as the game is, and as wide a variety of gameplay as the minigames contain, Napoleon Dynamite is just not that much fun. Even if you find a few favorites among the minigames, you’ll find them too brief for much replayability.

There is little else to say about My Word Coach; it’s a simple game with a simple purpose. It does succeed at what it claims to do, and if that’s your only concern, I can recommend it as an effective product. It is not, however, a particularly fun game in the long run, mainly due to the limited number of mini-games and the mountainous requirements for daily progress. This is a classic case of a good idea with lackluster execution, making My Word Coach the kind of game that I’d like to see followed up with an expanded and improved sequel…

.. So, as a horror game, Dementium is a flop. From a gameplay standpoint, it’s a fairly average first-person shooter that does nothing to distinguish itself. If you’ve played Metroid Prime Hunters, the experience isn’t all that different; except for the flashlight ripped straight from Doom 3. Just like in Doom, you get a flashlight with inexplicably infinite power which you’ll use to light up the dark hallways. This would be a decent gameplay addition, but it suffers from the same handicap as it did in Doom 3; you can’t wield a flashlight and a gun at the same time. This means you may spot an enemy in the hall in front of you, but when you take out your gun you can’t see it and – even though you’re aiming right at it – you can’t shoot it. Almost all the game’s gunplay takes place in confined spaces which doesn’t really make much sense. ..

While Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008 DS is initially a fun, refreshing game, before turning into a repetitive mess. This is one of those games where you will either love the gameplay to pieces, or you will hate it and “accidentally” let your dog eat the cartridge. There is a sense of accomplishment when you win a match through scribbling canyons into your touch screen, or when you see an obscurely placed move for the first time, but even this wears thin when you complete the game.

.. the game lacks depth, higher standards of quality, plot, character development and all of the other things we as gamers take for granted in games, but then again this game is aimed at a demographic who don’t even know what character development is, can’t spell plot due to failing literacy standards and quite frankly couldn’t give a monkey’s about that list. It has Bratz on the box, it’s playable, has mini-games, has interactive customizable dolls, and it even has a pet you can look after. That’s all they are looking for and this game panders to that outlook. ..
